Improving Patient Access and Care

Dear patient

We want to make it easier for you to get care and to have a better experience at our practice.

We have been working on the best way to do this.

From 1st September, we are changing how we handle same-day appointment requests and giving more support for admin queries.

This will help make sure you see the right person at the right time and that your requests are dealt with faster.

What this means

• You will not see big changes when you ask us for help.
• When you ask for an appointment, a new dedicated local team of administrators, GPs and pharmacists will look at your request (triage).
• This means our GPs and nurses can spend more time caring for you and your family.
• The new team will also help with prescriptions, sick notes, referrals, and general admin queries.

Why we are making these changes

• To improve your access to care and your experience with us.
• To make sure you see the right person at the right time.
• To guide you to other local services when these are better for your needs.

Benefits for patients

• Faster, safer care – your request will be checked quickly so you see the best person or service.
• Extra support for vulnerable patients – those who need more help can access care more easily.
• Quicker admin support – for prescriptions, referrals, and sick notes.
• Skilled triage team – all staff are trained in Dr.iQ and triage.
• Same caring practice team – you will still be supported by the team you know.

What stays the same

Your GP practice team will still:

• Answer your calls, emails, and face-to-face queries
• Manage referrals, prescriptions, and records
• Handle registrations, follow-ups, and recalls
• Welcome you when you visit the practice
